This video shows the final webinar in an online series of Ask me Anything discussions between in-service FSL teachers and experts and FSL teacher candidates from two Ontario Faculties of Education. This webinar series is a pilot project inspired by data collected in a larger three-year project called "FSL Teacher Recruitment and Retention" led by principal investigators Dr. Stephanie Arnott and Dr. Marie-Emilie Masson at the University of Ottawa and Dr. Gail Prasad and Dr. Muriel Peguret at Glendon.

This is the second session in an online webinar series launched in response to data collected in a larger 3-year study on FSL Recruitment and Retention conducted by Dr. Stephanie Arnott and Dr. Mimi Masson at the University of Ottawa and Dr. Muriel Peguret and Dr. Gail Prasad at York University. This panel features 2 in-service FSL teachers and teacher candidates following a question-and-answer formation of bilingual discussion.

From the website: This site is designed to support Grades 4 - 6 French as a Second Language Teachers across the province. We hope it provides a helpful starting point for teachers new to FSL and provides enrichment for FSL teachers seeking new ideas.

Teachers from across our region have generously contributed favourite go-to sites, lesson ideas and resources that they use with their students. We have done our best to share quality materials, websites and resources, but the lesson ideas have not all been vetted.

La démarche de la FabriqueREL a été l’inspiration pour ce dérivé plus particulièrement adapté au contexte de l’enseignement aux niveaux M-12.

The objective of this resources is to illustrate concrete ways in which Funds of Knowledge (FKN) can be promoted and integrated in French as a Second Language (FSL) teaching and learning through pedagogical practices that foster inclusion for diverse students and value their communities by connecting classroom learning to lived experiences.

The purpose of this Guide is to provide support to School Board FSL Consultants interested in planning pre-recorded, interactive cultural experiences for their schools. These experiences are intended to build intercultural awareness and appreciation among FSL students while building proficiency in the language. In addition to the event with the personality, an FSL Cultural Experience also includes the creation of content for educators to use in their classrooms, which can extend the overall experience for students significantly.

This resource explains what is Intercultural competence (IC) and why it should be incorporated in FSL teaching. It explains the three parts of a lesson that promotes IC and gives you an example of how to add an intercultural component to a regular lesson. Finally, this document also shows how a teacher can adapt a lesson plan from KG to Grade 12.
