The objective of this resources is to illustrate concrete ways in which Funds of Knowledge (FKN) can be promoted and integrated in French as a Second Language (FSL) teaching and learning through pedagogical practices that foster inclusion for diverse students and value their communities by connecting classroom learning to lived experiences.

This resource explains what is Intercultural competence (IC) and why it should be incorporated in FSL teaching. It explains the three parts of a lesson that promotes IC and gives you an example of how to add an intercultural component to a regular lesson. Finally, this document also shows how a teacher can adapt a lesson plan from KG to Grade 12.

This resource highlights the challenges that teachers may face when teaching French as a second language in Ontario. Through the use of common scenarios, teachers are provided with strategies they can use to both "survive" and "thrive". Each scenario also provides French teachers with the space to reflect upon how they will overcome similar challenges in their classrooms in the future. Finally, the guide provides additional resources and links that educators can use to learn more.

This resource was created for students from 12 to 14 (grades 7 , 8 and 9) aiming to make students aware that many indigenous peoples live in the urban areas and deal with a lot of difficulties in their lives. This resource is also available in English

This slide deck is designed to support teachers, facilitators, and consultants in exploring and implementing Open Educational Resources (OERs) for FSL classrooms. It provides an overview of OERs, licensing considerations, accessibility, and how to navigate the Camerise Studio platform for creating and sharing resources. The module also features examples of OERs developed by our school boards (UGDSB, WRDSB, WCDSB), highlighting their pedagogical value and offering inspiration for developing or adapting tools to meet the diverse needs of learners.

This is the second session in an online webinar series launched in response to data collected in a larger 3-year study on FSL Recruitment and Retention conducted by Dr. Stephanie Arnott and Dr. Mimi Masson at the University of Ottawa and Dr. Muriel Peguret and Dr. Gail Prasad at York University. This panel features 2 in-service FSL teachers and teacher candidates following a question-and-answer formation of bilingual discussion.

From the website: This site is designed to support Grades 4 - 6 French as a Second Language Teachers across the province. We hope it provides a helpful starting point for teachers new to FSL and provides enrichment for FSL teachers seeking new ideas.

Teachers from across our region have generously contributed favourite go-to sites, lesson ideas and resources that they use with their students. We have done our best to share quality materials, websites and resources, but the lesson ideas have not all been vetted.

The purpose of this Guide is to provide support to School Board FSL Consultants interested in planning pre-recorded, interactive cultural experiences for their schools. These experiences are intended to build intercultural awareness and appreciation among FSL students while building proficiency in the language. In addition to the event with the personality, an FSL Cultural Experience also includes the creation of content for educators to use in their classrooms, which can extend the overall experience for students significantly.
