From the website: This site is designed to support Grades 4 - 6 French as a Second Language Teachers across the province. We hope it provides a helpful starting point for teachers new to FSL and provides enrichment for FSL teachers seeking new ideas.

Teachers from across our region have generously contributed favourite go-to sites, lesson ideas and resources that they use with their students. We have done our best to share quality materials, websites and resources, but the lesson ideas have not all been vetted.

Studies on the benefits of language learning are numerous. Two graduate students from Stanford University highlight three areas of research most relevant to school administrators, policy makers and parents in order to provide answers to frequently asked questions about the positive impact of second language learning. In this age of accountability in education, policymakers and administrators, as well as parents, are increasingly demanding to know what research studies show regarding the benefits of language learning.

A descriptive list of math online resources and direct links for FSL students across Canada in grades K-12, as adapted by the British Columbia curriculum. Allows for differentiation in learning. According to the British Columbian curriculum, “Students learn by attaching meaning to what they do and need to construct their own meaning of mathematics. This meaning is best developed when learners encounter mathematical experiences that proceed from the simple to the complex and from the concrete to the abstract.

Learning is connected to real world experiences. Students can also talk about professions that are considered mainly for men or women, how they have evolved overtime, and how they differ across the world.Keywords: masculine, feminine, professions. Four activities/exercises which encourage students to learn basic vocabulary associated with different past times/hobbies (cycling, running, swimming, chess, music, reading..). Allows students to read and listen to the instructions for each activity in French. Activities are varied and interactive (drag and drop, click on the appropriate answer, rearrange the words to form a logical sentence, crossword puzzle etc.). The activities are auto-corrected. The photos appear authentic and are of diverse peoples from around the world including the francophone parts of the world.

E-lang provides language teachers with educational resources that promote the use of "tasks anchored in real life" in a didactic approach that takes social interactions fully into account. E-lang ultimately benefits learners to make them competent and autonomous language users and citizen actors of the web.

This website explains how learning disabilities may impact a student's learning in a classroom setting. It divides specific impairments into a chart to understand how cognitive processes are affected. Also, there is specific information regarding how LDs may impact students at an elementary school, high school, and post-secondary level.

An amazing podcast of particular interest to FSL teachers and other FSL stakeholders. The author redefines leadership in a way that opens new doors. I particularly like the concept of Community Centered Leadership. Taken in a FSL context and through a hub like Camerise these ideas can help us advocate for social justice in FSL in Canada.

Proponents of French immersion say that students enrolled in the program see benefits throughout their lifetime. You can also have the story read aloud in many languages. A great way to compare languages. Note that there are collections of African and Indigenous stories.

Sons et lettres provides a set of classroom materials to train students to hear and produce the sounds of French and to recognize the regular spellings used to represent those sounds in print. In our experience, students are not given sufficient preparation to successfully decipher and pronounce French words.

The questions are easy to translated (e.g., your favourite pastime?, Do you play sports?). It also suggests a game and how to incorporate academic goals to the activity.

This is an amazing resource for FSL teaching candidates, providing a simple and informative way to encourage potential teaching candidates and those with FSL backgrounds to pursue a career in French education. An initiative by Canadian Parents for French (Ontario) designed to boost the number of French Second Language (FSL) teachers in Ontario. Its goal is to raise awareness of FSL teaching as a profession by providing those with an FSL background the proper tools and guidance to start their career path.

This learning unit explores how poverty, itinerance, violence, etc. are a reality in the lives of many Canadian women, especially indigenous women. The author suggests it can be taught from grade 7 to 12, and the learning unit comprehends 3 lessons of 60 minutes each.
